Versatile Spaces - The Great Adaptability of The Cow Shed Crail

There are so many words we could use to describe The Cow Shed Crail, but somehow, none of them are ever quite enough. Whether you're on the hunt for a large weekend wedding venue, an intimate wedding ceremony space, Scottish coastal views or somewhere that's just a bit different, we can tick every box.
It's also a working farm and eco-venue that you have to see for yourself - so for this month's blog, we thought we'd do just that!
THE BARN
Couples who want a barn wedding that feel light, airy and has oodles of rustic charm will adore our Barn. This gorgeous, traditional stone area is flooded with natural daylight and has direct access through patio doors to our gardens. A popular choice for wedding ceremonies, it can also work well for drinks receptions that spill into the garden, or intimate dinners.
Capacity: ceremony 150 guests // seated dinner 60 guests

THE ROUNDAL
If you're looking for a really romantic space to get married in, The Roundal could be the venue for you. With a wooden ceiling, natural daylight and contemporary fireplace, this room has a charming feel and is bursting with romantic vibes. As well as being a popular choice for smaller wedding ceremonies, we often see it used as a chilled 'late lounge', and also as an intimate dining room for smaller weddings.
Capacity: ceremony 80 guests // seated dinner 60 guests

THE WORKSHOP
For those searching for a space that screams rustic, then you have to check out our Workshop. This area is packed full of historical character and charm, making it perfect for bringing all your rustic wedding ideas to life. Over the years, we've seen this space used for truly atmospheric wedding ceremonies (sometimes as a wet weather back up for outdoor ceremonies), and for drinks receptions, often with live music.
Capacity: ceremony 180 (if you use both aspects) // seated dinner 60 guests

THE STEADING MARQUEE
The Steading Marquee is a unique space combining marquee roof with exposed steading walls, and where we would recommend hosting a reception for weddings between 60 and 200 guests. This room has seen many a knees up - if only these walls could talk!
Capacity: seated dinner 150 guests including dance floor area (we can accommodate higher numbers but please note this would involve clearing tables to provide space for a dance floor)

THE GROUNDS
The courtyard is a beautiful space, made up of traditional pink stone farm buildings, which shelter the area from the sea breeze. On mild days, it is a popular area for outdoor wedding ceremonies, and also for post - ceremony drinks - made quite magical into the evening with festoon lights glowing ambiently. For any couples looking to create a smoke bomb photoshoot, this is your space!
As well as The Courtyard, we also have a patio which is a favourite for cocktails on sunny days, and conveniently has direct access from both The Barn and The Roundal.

EXAMPLES OF SPACES USED AT PREVIOUS WEDDINGS
There are so many options you can choose from, and we can offer our advice depending on your number of guests and the format of the day. To give you an idea of the possibilities, here are some examples from previous weddings.
For larger weddings (60 - 200 people) - Ceremony in The Barn, Drinks in The Workshop - Reception and dancing in the Steading Marquee.
For smaller weddings (up to 60 guests) - Ceremony in The Roundal - Drinks in The Workshop - Reception in the Barn.
Just ask us - we have so much experience at this, and we rarely say no to anything!
